Why kids learn languages more easily than you do
① It’s tough to learn foreign languages at any age.
In fact, the longer you wait, the harder it becomes.
Now a new study points out what exact age we will become unable to speak a new language fluently. 10 years old.
A journal Cognition published a new study.
This shows it is almost impossible for learners to get as fluency as native speakers after age ten.
This is not because our language ability goes down.
Instead, according to the study co-author Joshua Hartshorne, it is because we try to learn quickly.
Those who start learning a second language can be a good speaker of the language, but not a fluent speaker of it.
