セミナーで実施させていただいたトピックで、最後のものがCensorship つまり「検閲」です。
例によって、教材リスニング、文章教材の解釈のあと、ディスカッションをして、最後にスピーチでまとめていただきました。
Censorship is necessary
(Introduction)
In democratic nations, censorship is wrong in principle. However, there are cases we can permit censorship to protect innocent children. I would like to discuss this matter because of the following three reasons.
(The first reason)
Freedom of speech is never an absolute right. It is right unless it causes harm to others.
We often see young children playing games where people are killed just for fun. For kids, I think they are harmful. The government should decide which is good and which is not.
(The second reason)
Children below a certain age should not be exposed to inappropriate scenes of sex, violence or crimes. Pornographic magazines, for instance, should not be available to kids under 18.
(The third reason)
Also, we need censorship in the case of excessive pornography, violence scenes, and brutal crime scenes as well. The government should have a duty that citizens should be protected from the seedy, unhealthy and disturbing attitudes to women.
(Conclusion)
The government’s censorship is needed to protect innocent children, ordinary citizens, and sensitive generations. These types of censorship are acceptable and necessary.
検閲は必要である。
（序論）
民主主義国家において、原則としては検閲は禁止されるべきである。しかし、無垢な子供たちを対象とする場合には、必要とされる場合がある。
（第１の理由）
言論の自由は絶対的に認められるべきではない。他人に対して害を及ぼさない範囲でのみ認められる。
わたしたちは、人間が楽しみのために殺害されるようなゲームを、 年少者が行っているのを見かける。政府はそんなゲームは検閲すべきだ。
（第２の理由）
ある年齢に達するまで、児童（少年）は、ふさわしくない内容の出版物や、メディアに接するべきではない。ポルノ雑誌なども、そうした少年には手に入らないように規制すべきだ。
（第３の理由）
過剰なセックス、暴力、犯罪場面なども規制すべきだ。女性に対する、害悪の多い、過剰な性的描写なども検閲されるべきだ。
（結論）
政府による検閲は、いたいけな子供や、良識ある市民、影響を受けやすい世代の人たちを守るために存在すべきだ。
