英作文をネイティブ・チェックしていただいたとき、表現はなおされても、流れを修正されることはほとんどありません。
ところが、実際に英文のやり取りでトラブルになるのは、この「流れ」の部分のようです。
この記事では、この「流れ」に注目して、書いていただいた英文を修正していきます。
タイトル；An e-book reader or traditional paper book
①I prefer an e-book reader for the following reasons.
序論です。こレからどういう方針で書いていくつもりなのか、明確に出されているので良いと思います。（つまり、どちらを好むか、と、これからその理由を述べる、ということがはっきりしています）
②First, the contents of an e-book reader are cheaper. Take a novel, for instance, you can get it with almost or less than half the price of its paper version. This will provide many people with chances to read more and more books.
まず、問題は第一文にあります。直訳すれば、「電子ブックリーダー（読み取るための器具ですね）の内容は廉価である」ということですが、内容、というのはまさに電子ブックそのままですから、First, e-books are cheaper. とすれば済むことです。
第二文ではit の使い方が気になります。このままだとit が何を指しているのかはっきりしません。
代名詞it の使い方は、本来、直前の文の単数名詞（複数あれば、文法的に同じポジションのことば（＝主語なら主語、目的語なら目的語）をさします。ところが、ここではit にあてはまるものがない。
そこでit をan e-version として、あと費用を表す時にはfor を金額の直前に入れますから、almost…price は for almost half the price とします。
第三文は、provide many を enable more として、末尾booksをくどいので取ってしまいます。
②を書き変えたものは、次の通り。
First, e-books are cheaper. Take a novel, for instance, you can get an e-version for almost half the price of its paper version. This will enable more people with chances to read more and more.
③Second, an e-book reader has a capacity to contain a great amount of books. When you travel, you have to carry several paper books just in case you finish reading all the books you have. With an e-book reader, however, you don’t have to worry about this any longer, because you have a lot more in your e-book reader. In this way, an e-book reader will offer us a limitless pleasure of reading.
