果たして、人間のクローンを作ることは認められるべきなのか。
実際にこの問題を考える場合に、陥りやすい危険は、「神」の意志を認めてしまうことです。
「神の意志」に反する行いだ、と言い切ってしまえば、話は単純です。
ところが、これを英作文してみても、なかなか説得力のある意見になりません。
だとすれば、それなりの工夫が必要になります。
Should human cloning be banned?
まず結論を出しておきます。
I do not think human cloning should be accepted for the following reasons.
そして、ひとつひとつ、可能性を考えてみます。
親が、自分の子供の資質を良くするために、スポーツ選手のDNAを利用するということができないように、クローン操作は認められない。
First, controlling genes will create an ethical problem. For instance, some parents will use some great athlete’s gene to make a gifted child or a designer child. This is against the ethics because we should not control life. Suppose you have a human clone which has the same DNA, the same potential of body, you may have a storehouse of any of your body part. This is not a human being, but a controlled robot!
ふたつめに、クローンには生まれながらの脆弱性があるようです。
Secondly, vulnerability of clone humans is a serious matter. Some experiments have already show that cloned humans are rather weak. For instance, they are rather weak even when they were born. According to some scientists, clones lack homeopathy. This proves that cloned humans are not exact copy of the original. In fact, they are, somewhat lower level of copy. We should not let parents have such a child.
そして最後、三つ目です。
Finally, human clones are the inferior copy of the original. Several years ago, the International Herald Tribune featured Dolly, a cloned sheep. Then it was proved that clones were lower-level copy. They have color-blindness, and are easy to catch cold.
The unchangeable fact is that we should not control clones.
そこで、簡単にまとめておきます。
For the reasons I mentioned above, I strongly claim that we should not manipulate parts of our body.
調べてみて、クローンが、意外に多くのミスコピーを生み出してしまうのだ、ということは驚きでした。
まだ、形としてはっきりした事実は現れてきていませんが、「遺伝子組み換え」食品も、こうした秘められた「問題」が隠れているのかもしれません。
