Cats make better pets than dogs

I think that cats make better pets than dogs for the following three reasons.

First, cats are quiet. We often hear of people complaining about dogs’ barking. They have a watchful nature and warn us by barking when they notice a stranger around their place. On the contrary, cats sneak into houses and are careful not to be seen or heard. Cats never wake sleeping babies or disturb people with noise.

Second, cats are clean. They are always grooming themselves, trying hard to keep themselves clean. Dogs, on the other hand, do not care about cleanliness. Everybody knows that big dogs drool on the floor. Dogs, especially those that go out freely during the day, sometimes smell terrible. Cats like to clean themselves, even if their owners let them go out of the house.

Finally, cats are clever. Recently, I watched a TV program focusing on cats which spoke a language. Those animals were able to read their owners’ minds and spoke words and phrases to make them feel better.

Though some say dogs are people’s best friends, I think cats are cleverer, cleaner and quieter than dogs; because of these qualities, I think cats make better pets than dogs.
