Yes, I think so. Recently, we have seen a lot of accidents between cars and bicycles, or between bikes and people. If we introduce a bike license system, cyclists have to pass the exam. Then they will be more skillful and the number of accidents will decrease.
人間対自転車の事故が増えているので、免許制にすれば、技術も上がり、事故も減る。
複雑すぎず、説明もだらだらしないようにして、発言＋具体例 という形をとれば、わかりやすいでしょう。
３番目、インターネットはコミュニケーション能力を向上させるかですが、
No. Young people use the Internet and talk with a lot of people on line. However, they usually talk with their peers, I mean, people as old as they are. They do not have to learn how to be polite, what kind of expressions they should use to the elderly. They just chat with their friends. So I don’t think their communication skills will be improved through the Internet.
自分たちと同世代の人と、「おしゃべり」しているだけで、例えば、目上の人に対する丁寧な態度とか、きちんとした表現を覚えているわけではないので、コミュニケーションの能力向上の役には立っていない。
これも、自分なりの考え方について言ったあと、具体的になぜ、能力が伸びないのか述べています。
大切なのは、できるだけやさしい英語を使って、自分の考えを表現すること。
むずかしい単語を使っても、使い方を間違ってしまえば、逆に不利になってしまうこともあります。
最後の問題、遺伝子操作した食品（genetically modified foods)は将来、多くの国で利用されるか。
No, I don’t think so. The history of genetically modified foods is short. Only for 30 or 40 years. Until now, there has been no evidence to show the harm of these foods, but nobody knows what is going to happen in the future. Some people may get sick or have some problem. I don’t think we should introduce a lot of these foods.
そうは思わない。GMFの歴史は浅いので、将来、何が起こるかわからない。だから、導入すべきでない。
もしかしたら、このような難しい表現が出てくるかもしれません。でも、そんな時にもびっくりしないで、全力を傾けて、やさしくまとめるように努力してください。
